Amber Portwood’s problems with her ex-lover Gary Shirley’s wife, Kristina Shirley, have continued after Amber walked out of a reunion on Teen Mom OG.

Amber has had her differences ever since Gary hooked up with Kristina, as she felt Kristina was hampering the upbringing of her daughter Leah. In the episode of the reunion, Amber could not hold back her disgust towards Kristina. She was heard saying: “Gary, I appreciate you…I’m going [to] tell you right now. You are a great person. But I can’t trust your wife.”
The friction all arose after Leah had claimed that Kristina was a better mother to her than Leah. Naturally, that did not go down well for several reasons. First, Leah is her biological mother who should be respected. Not only that, Amber claimed that Kristina merely spoils Leah to have a great relationship.
In a previous video to her fans on Instagram, she stated: “[Leah] respects her because she brings her out to Starbucks, gets her nails done and spends over $1,000 of clothing on her. Hell, I’d respect her too. See, I wasn’t raised that way. I was raised to not spoil my child.” Leah, though, had an entirely different account of events.
She opened up on how distant she had been from her mother, and as a result, these disputes were a mere case of jealousy. In a previous episode of the show, she said: We don’t really have a bond like that. Twelve years and she hasn’t really done anything. That’s kind of been, like, Kristina’s spot … All she did was give birth to me.” But for all the accusations coming her way, Kristina did have Gary to back her up.
He has always stressed that Kristina values Amber, and that her relationship with Leah is not at the expense of Amber. Despite Amber walking out, he did defend her. And yet, Amber continued her tirade. She stated: “Thank you, Gary. That was amazing to actually hear you sticking up for me. But your wife is absolutely horrible at it. I really hope in the future we can have a good relationship, but me and Kristina … it’s not going to be like that.”
