Gina Kirschenheiter has reassured fans that she will be ok after her ex-husband Matt Kirschenheiter pleaded guilty to battery.

In a post to her fans on Instagram, she urged others to speak out against any abuse. She said: “Say what you need to say. Stand up for yourself. It will hurt just as bad as not standing up for yourself, but the long term pain will be lessened exponentially.” Gina is fully justified in what she has said. After all, she does share kids with Matt.
Naturally, then, the prospect of him facing jail time was not only going to be hard on her but also the children. Nevertheless, she vowed to look towards the future. She added: “It’s been a hard last few days, but it will be ok. It always is. Endless gratitude to everyone who has been sending me love and supporting me.”
Things have been compounded by the fact that Gina broke down in court, when she testified against Matt. Coming face to face against a violent person is one thing, but when it is against your ex-husband with whom you had been married for eight years, then it is an entirely different prospect. In her testimony at the time, Gina recalled the trauma that she had gone through.
She revealed: “I thought I was going to die. I still get chills thinking about how I begged you to, ‘Stop. Think about the kids.’ And you responded by saying, ‘Your mom is going to die tonight.’ It echoes in my brain, and it sinks deep in my heart.” There had been worries over whether Matt would be allowed to see his kids. This is understandable as she may pose a danger to them.
Upon reflection, it seems Gina has no desire to create further hatred, as she has chosen to put it behind her instead. She continued: “I have managed to forgive you for most of it. I accept that I will always have this painful memory from that night. I’ve come to terms with that.” Gina should be applauded for the courage that she has shown during this difficult time.
