Prince William And Kate Middleton Honor Prince Philip On Social Media Shortly After His Funeral

Prince Philip might be gone, but he surely will never be forgotten. Prince William and Kate Middleton took to their social media accounts to honor “devoted consort” Prince Philip shortly after his funeral on Saturday.

While the Cambridges did reflect on the consort’s commitment and service in a statement released shortly after his death, they issued another tribute to him after his celebration of life ceremony had ended. The Duke of Edinburgh died at the age of 99 on April 9th.

Prince William And Kate Middleton Honor Prince Philip On Social Media Shortly After His Funeral

“The Duke of Edinburgh was a devoted consort to Her Majesty The Queen for nearly 70 years, from Her Majesty’s Accession in 1952 until his death,” William and Kate’s brief statement said.

During the funeral, all were on William and his younger brother, Harry, at the funeral as it marked the first time they’d seen each other at a public event since an alleged rift was caused between them over Harry’s decision to step aside from his senior royal duties and move to California with Meghan Markle.

If that weren’t enough, Harry and Meghan seemingly threw the entire royal family under the bus in their explosive interview with Oprah back in March. Meghan suggested that there was a racist behind closed doors at the palace and that she had also suffered from mental health issues during her time in the UK.

If that weren’t enough, Harry also said that his father Prince Charles had cut him off both financially and emotionally following their decision to leave the royal family.

The Queen and Philip had been married for 73 years, and the prince, who died last Friday at the age of 99, was the nation’s longest-serving consort. She sat alone during the funeral.

The Duke of Sussex and Duke of Cambridge sat opposite one another in St. George’s Chapel, with William sat beside his wife Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, during the service. Prince Harry also sat alone. About 30 people made up the congregation at the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral service as the memorial service has had to be stripped back in light of the pandemic.
