Prince Philip And Queen Elizabeth’s Marriage Was Based On Respect And Space

Shouldn’t all marriages be this way? There’s a new report that says Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth’s marriage lasted as long as it did because it was based on both mutual respect and space. The couple were married for 73 years before Prince Philip died last week at the age of 99. Here’s what you need to know.

According to royal author and expert Nick Bullen, the secret between Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s marriage was mutual respect, understanding and space. He told Fox News, “As the duke, Philip knew that he had to do his duty. He was always there for the queen.”

Bullen also said that if there was anything that Philip understood the most, it’s that he knew he had to live a life dedicated to duty and service.

“He spoke of being this real guardian around the queen,” said Bullen. “He protected her, but also made her passage through as a queen easier.”

“I remember seeing it personally whenever he would walk into a room,” Bullen recalled.

“He just instantly broke the ice and put people at ease. So when the queen arrived, everyone was slightly calmer. People are terrified of the queen quite often because she is the reigning monarch. But he was a great icebreaker with a brilliant sense of humor. And he did it for the queen.”

Meanwhile, Harry, the Duke of Sussex, will attend his grandfather’s funeral, but his wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, won’t be present. Sources say that Prince Philip’s long-standing funeral plans had been adapted to respect certain coronavirus restrictions, with all the usual elements that involve contact with the public removed.

Current Covid rules in England limit the number of people who can attend funerals to 30. It’s also been noted that his coffin will be carried by a Land Rover from Windsor Castle to St. George’s Chapel for the ceremony.

On the day of the funeral, the coffin will be moved from the private chapel to the State Entrance of Windsor Castle. It will be placed on a modified Land Rover, that the duke himself helped design, to be carried the short distance to St George’s Chapel. The procession will begin at 2:45 p.m. (9:45 a.m. ET) and will be led from Windsor Castle by a band of grenadier guards.
