The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office have been called to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s Montecito mansion nine times in nine months.
in 2020, during the early days of the pandemic, the couple with their infant son, Archie moved from Canada and temporarily into a spare Los Angeles home of actor, producer, director, screenwriter, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Tyler Perry.
Duke and Duchess of Sussex Have Called Police To Their California Home Nine Times.
Prince Harry explained the decision to move saying, “The biggest concern was while we were in Canada, in someone else’s house, I then got told, short notice, that security was going to be removed.”
Harry and Meghan detailed in their sit down interview with Oprah Winfrey that the Royal family had decided to remove Prince Harry’s personal protection officers after they left their royal positions, and the U.K. behind.
The family moved from L.A. into their $14.65 million Montecito home in July of 2020. In that first month police officers responded to four calls from the property. There has since been 5 more calls including phone requests, alarm activations and property crimes.
On both Christmas Eve and Boxing Day police were called out to Montecito due to trespassers on the Sussex’s property.
Nickolas Brooks, 37, was booked in to jail on a misdemeanor trespassing charge on December 26 and later released. He admitted he may have been “high” when he was caught on the property the day after Christmas.
Both the Duke and Duchess, who are expecting a daughter this summer, have asked for the Royal Family to reconsider and reinstate security for Prince Harry and his family.
“I was born into this position. I inherited the risk. So that was a shock to me,” Prince Harry revealed during the sit down with Oprah in regards to having his security removed. It has been alleged that the Duke is receiving death threats for marrying Meghan and leaving his position within the Royal Family.
It looks though, that the couple will have to pay for their own security. Maybe they can scrape together a security guard or two with the $100 million dollars they are said to have received in their deal with Netflix.
