According to Britain’s The Sun, Prince Charles will formally step into his father’s traditional role as royal consort. It will be the first time that Charles accompanies Queen Elizabeth to the opening of Parliament, which is expected to take place on May 11.
Prince Charles Is Now Stepping In To Prince Philip’s Role
“It is a clear signal that the Queen does not want the crown to skip a generation and that Prince Charles will start taking on an even bigger role in royal life,” one source close to the situation said.
The source added: “There will be a visible show of support for the Queen from senior members of the family at future events, and the opening of Parliament is no exception.”
Meanwhile, a separate source suggests Queen Elizabeth has no plans to abdicate anytime soon. And while she might have just turned 95 this week, no one should expect the grieving monarch to step down anytime soon – including her own son, Prince Charles.
“The queen will never abdicate, full-stop,” royal expert Nick Bullen told Fox News. “She made a commitment not just to this country, to the Commonwealth and her family, but also to God. Faith is very important to her. And when she became queen, she made that commitment in front of God as well. So she will do this job until she is no longer able to do this job.”
