‘Days of Our Lives (DOOL)’ spoilers reveal Claire Brady (Isabel Durant) has come a long way. Actually, so has Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson). They endured a lot of hate and judgement over their crimes, but both were on a path to redemption.
But it looks like the Universe is determined to make them suffer more. Let’s take a look at how they’ve evolved, and how Ciara Brady’s (Victoria Konefal) current situation is yet another payment on their karmic debt.
NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Cruel fate
First, Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal Ben has certainly earned some bad karma over his life. After all, he is the necktie killer. However, he was mentally ill at the time, and he has put a lot of hard work into healing and being a better person.
We saw just how far he came in the days leading up to Ciara’s supposed death. He was subjected to every bit of brainwashing and conditioning possible. However, he still couldn’t bring himself to hurt Ciara, no matter how programmed he was. That was proof he did actually get rehabilitated.
And let’s not forget the immediate post-time jump mess with him on Death Row. He spent the better part of a year locked up, fighting through appeal after appeal. Finally, he had no other options and he was actually on the table with a needle in his arm. Considering he wasn’t actually guilty of the murder he was convicted of, that feels like he had to have worked off some of that karmic debt there as well.
But now, after learning Ciara is alive, she doesn’t remember their relationship. She’s disgusted by him and has treated him like trash beneath her feet. That is definitely a huge punishment for him, considering how close they were. And how devoted they were to each other. He even saved her life multiple times, as she saved his.
NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Bad choices
As for Claire, she got a harsh blow herself. Ciara also doesn’t remember the hard work Claire put in at Bayview herself. She doesn’t remember all the work Claire put into the wedding, or how they made amends. All she knows is, Claire stole Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams). So, she told Claire where to go and what to do with herself. Claire is obviously devastated, but the writers had one more blow in store.
Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal Ciara remembers being in a fire, thanks to hypnosis with Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall). Thanks to this session, Marlena was forced to admit Claire was the one who set the fire. This is going to be another huge blow, and we’re not sure Claire can handle this well.
NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: When’s enough enough?
As for Claire, she really has worked hard to redeem herself. And no one actually died as a result of her actions. We think she already paid enough, but it seems the Universe disagrees. We just wonder if this could send Claire over an edge.
She’s been awfully sensitive about what she did, and the prospect of having to work her way back into Ciara’s good graces again should be a daunting challenge for her. It might even make her doubt herself and her worthiness, as Ciara is not mincing words these days.
And Ben? Well, we get some of the arguments against him. However, we do see a deeply damaged, mentally ill person that has genuine remorse for his past. The work he put into himself and the progress he made makes us think he deserves a break at some point. As we’ve said with other bad guys in Salem who try to do right—one has to know when to let enough be enough.
By not accepting some’s sins while forgiving others’, then doing everything possible to make them know they’re hated doesn’t do any good. All it’s been doing is making people like Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus) give up and embrace their darker instincts. We’re hoping this doesn’t do the same for Ben and Claire.
