Is John Mayer About To Get His Own Talk Show?

Both Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson might want to take a seat for this (and anyone else who has dated him in the past). There’s a new report that says John Mayer is very close to getting a talk show deal with CBS and Paramount Plus. In fact it’s so close, that John might share private information about it, just like he did with some of his past relationships. Apparently, the show will be formatted in the same way as the UK’s ‘Later… with Jools Holland.’ Here’s what you need to know.

According to reports, the show is being pitched as “Later With John Mayer.” Sources have told Variety that it will potentially feature musical performances as well as interviews with musicians and other public figures in a setting designed to look like an after-hours club. In other words, John Mayer wants to give other late night talk show hosts like Jimmy Kimmel and James Corden a good run for their money, if that is even possible.

It will include both performance segments and interviews with musicians and artists “in a setting designed to look like an after-hours club for musicians.” There is also talk of tie-ins with the Grammy Awards, which are aired on CBS.

The show will also take inspiration from the popular British BBC music show, which stars Jools Holland. wHe hosts episodes that showcase up-and-coming musical talent as well as performances from music industry heavyweights. This means that John might be using his platform to give other musicians across the country a place to shine, which isn’t a bad thing at all.

Apparently, John Mayer has been working on his craft and his comedy routine over at his TikTok channel, where he treats his 1.1million followers to some of his music and a few jokes here and there.

John Mayer was apparently close to a deal with CBS for a music and variety TV show in 2009. Then-CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler reportedly said that the project was under development and an agreement was near.

This isn’t John’s first rodeo when it comes to television hosting., The former chart topper also guest-hosted The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson for CBS after the host’s departure. Craig Ferguson’s spot has since been taken by James Corden.

The series would likely air weekly on Paramount+, with occasional specials airing on CBS. Paramount Plus and a representative for John Mayer have so far made no comments about the report.
