British Royal Family News find that Piers Morgan doesn’t think Meghan Markle was treated any worse than Princess Diana during her very short stint as a full-time working royal. In a lengthy piece that he wrote for the mail on Sunday, the former Good Morning Britain host went off on the Duchess of Sussex.
Piers was forced to step down from his position on the show after he refused to apologize to Meghan Markle after he claimed that he didn’t believe that she experienced suicidal thoughts during her time as a royal back in 2018. Here’s what he has to say.
British Royal Family News: Piers Morgan Says Meghan Markle Treated No Worse Than Princess Diana
Piers claimed that Meghan Markle is no different than the other people who have married into the royal family and have also received similar scrutiny in the past. During her interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan suggested that the racism she endured has made her experience incomparable to others.
“Meghan’s had no worse media treatment than other Royal brides such as Diana, Fergie, Kate, Camilla or even that other Monarchy-rattling American divorcee, Wallis Simpson,” Morgan wrote.
“But she’s the first to claim negative press has been motivated by racism, and it’s a very dangerous charge to make with so little to back it up.”
During her bombshell of an interview with Oprah, Meghan also opened up about the differences in the way the British media had treated her as compared to someone like Kate Middleton. Meghan said that her treatment was much worse.
“If members of his family say, ‘Well, this is what happened to all of us’ or if they can compare what the experience that I went through was similar to what has been shared with us — Kate was called ‘Waity Katie’ waiting to marry William,” she said, referring to Kate Middleton’s courtship with Princess William.
“While I imagine that was really hard, and I do, I can’t picture what that felt like. This is not the same,” Meghan continued.
