No, we’re not talking the Covid-19 pandemic, we are talking about Saturday, March 20th signaling the one year anniversary of the most bat-shit crazy TRUE documentary uncovering the seedy underbelly of big cat rescue and ownership ever witnessed: Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.
Just the fact that we have reason to write “seedy underbelly of big cat” anything, makes us squeal with glee and thank the likes of Joe Exotic, Carole Baskin and all those who were pulled into their ridiculously entertaining albeit grossly felonious orbit.
Tiger King becomes Tiger Queen: The Musical!
You may have guessed by now that I am a huge Tiger King fan, but I’m not the only one who the documentary helped live through the beginning of the ‘two week” (oh, to be that naive again) lockdown.
It appears the queens of RuPaul’s drag Race are also big fans and they will be breathing new life into Tiger King with with a live TikTok drag-queen musical tribute.
Netflix tweeted a poster for “Tiger Queens: The Tiger King Musical Live on TikTok,” starring RuPaul Andre Charles’s Drag Race alums Kim Chi as Carole Baskin, Heidi N Closet as “The Tiger,” and Willam as Joe Exotic. More ‘special guests’ are also promised.
We do not know yet if the Ru-sical will include original songs or take from Joe Exotic’s catalogue of music itself. With songs like I Saw a Tiger, I Can’t Believe This Feeling and runaway hit Here Kitty, Kitty, the iconic Queens have plenty to play with and spoof on.
“Tiger Queens” will stream live on Netflix’s TikTok account on Sunday, March 28 and one can only wonder if ole Joe himself will be watching from his jailcell. Joe is currently serving 17 years for animal cruelty and conspiracy to murder. Perhaps he’ll spy his next husband(s).
Either way, this weekend we will throw our mittens around our kittens and away we go!
