‘The Bachelorette’ Spoilers: 2 Bachelorettes…again?

‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers have found that Emmanuel Acho has teased there will be a big curve ball coming and he will announce it during the  After the Final Rose special when it airs next week.

We all know the drama that has surrounded this season of The Bachelor (if you don’t, check through the Daily Soap Dish articles to get all caught up and come on back!). This all ended when Matt James gave out his final rose and we all live happily ever after.

‘The Bachelorette’ Spoilers: 2 Bachelorettes…again?

Well, not quite We know the issues surrounding his ABC ratings grabber wont go away with a click of the fingers or by a Neil Lane diamond being slipped on the winner’s finger. At least, they shouldn’t. Real conversations are finally happening about the treatment of people of color on the show…which leads back to the “curve ball” we have been teased.

WARNING ***SPOILERS FOR CURRENT SEASON AHEAD***

This is what we know – Katie Thurston, hero of this season of the Bachelor for standing up for human decency, then being ripped to shreds for doing so on the Women Tell All episode was named the next Bachelorette . This was supposed to be announced in all the regular fanfare at the end of Women Tell All.

Between the taping of Women Tell All and the air date, the shit had hit the fan, Chris Harrison had been ousted and the producers realized – whoops, there are women of color who have made it much further than Katie and who are equally as beloved, perhaps we could have looked in that direction.

So, they did, and they have now labeled Michelle Young as The Bachelorette. But wait- she’s still in the running for Matt’s final Rose!

Yeah, about that… We all know the world’s worst kept secret was that Rachael Kirkconnell-in all her controversial splendor-is Matt’s final pick. If you hadn’t read the spoilers, you’ve seen Matt gushing over her and responding to her I love yous with full emotion as compared to when third placer Bri Sprigs or still-in-the-“running” Michelle shared the sentiment and he acted like  he was a Thank you for your Feedback at the end of a survey robocall.

‘The Bachelorette’ Spoilers: Further spoiler alert- don’t expect a happily ever after for Matt and Rachael!

Anyway- back to the glaringly obvious- now we have two bachelorettes– who are ABC going to dump? Neither.

No, don’t worry, it’s not a mid-season replacement scenario like when Tayshia Adams had to step in last minute after Clare Crawley tripped and fell into love with Dale Moss the second he emerged from the limo.

And before the hate mail starts, they are not going back to pitting woman against woman like they did with season 11 of The Bachelorette where both Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson got themselves all glammed up to meet the lads, only for the men to then get together like they were judging a Miss America contests and choose which lady they wanted to stay and be their Bachelorette.

For those who are a little less into the franchise (i.e. still have a shred of sanity) Kaitlyn “won” the popularity contest and went on to lead the show. Instead of repeating that debacle, it seems we are going to have back-to-back Bachelorette seasons, with a bit of Bachelor-in-Paradise in between.

Katie will start filming her season, maybe by the time you read this. It was slated to already be filming in Jasper, Canada by now but then Canada tightened their Covid and travel restrictions (I’m not going to say it was because of the impending filming of the Bachelorette, but you draw your own conclusions when it comes to the timing- I jest!)

Now Katie’s fellas and crew are reportedly already quarantining at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa about 20 minutes outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico. There have been some reports that a few men of color have dipped out from filming after seeing the current controversies and what they believe as not enough being done about the continual complaints about the treatment of the contestants of color.

After Katie snags herself a diamond from hopefully a deserving guy ( I truly stan Katie…and her vibrating friend), her off-cuts will be sent to Paradise. The filming for Bachelor in Paradise is apparently going to happen in June, but no location has been confirmed. We all know with the state of the world that travel confirmations these days are as permanent as saying “Rachael Kirkconnell, will you marry me?” (ouch, low blow).

The past group of ladies from Matt’s season, with a very few exceptions were not well received. Mainly because they were catty caricatures from a YA novel about high school stereotypes. This could mean a few issues for the producers when casting Bachelor in Paradise. It’s gong to be a major sausage fest if we have Tayshia’s VERY decent guys, Katies off cuts- here’s hoping the caliber stays up there- and the one or two contestants from Matt’s season the audience can stomach.

Yes, for drama purposes will see a Yosef or a Queen Victoria shuffle in in their flip flips, only to be turned back around the next day, but it looks like they will have to dip way back into the annals of women good enough for the Paradise guys- and perhaps even one or two being women of color- please?

Directly after Paradise, instead of The Bachelor, Michelle Young will begin filming her season of the Bachelorette. So, what’s with the doubling down? Apparently, after choosing Katie, they then wanted to dump Katie- likely because, as producers threw Chris Harrison and his comments to the wolves and backed-up with their hands in the air screaming “We’re not racist!”, they figured it would be easier for audiences to believe them if they started showing, not telling.

And, of course, Michelle truly deserves to be at the helm of her own season. She was an instant hit with audiences, even if she was part of the second wave!

Michelle, however, didn’t want to go directly into filming again, missing even more of her students’ school year. She’s a career woman dammit! So Michelle will film over the summer during the school break and I’m guessing her season will air this time next year, when the regular Bachelor airs.

No word yet as to whether Chris Harrison will be back to host any of these seasons.

Whew, that was a whole lot of spoiler I was sitting on, I feel 10 pounds lighter now!
