‘The Bachelor’ Spoilers: Rachel Lindsay Accepts Chris Harrison’s Apology

‘The Bachelor’ spoilers find that Chris Harrison’s appearance on Good Morning America garnered mixed reviews. Some viewers felt the man seemed sincere and hoped he got a second chance to continue his long-running tenure as Bachelor Host.

Other’s felt he gave a slick and scripted performance void of any true authenticity. Michael Strahan, who was the GMA host to speak with Harrison felt he only received “surface responses.”

But the most important person, who Harrison addressed specifically and atoned to again for the treatment she has received over social media, has accepted Harrison’s apology.

‘The Bachelor’ Spoilers: Rachel Lindsay Accepts Chris Harrison’s Apology

Rachel Lindsay found herself in the middle of a fire storm after Harrison defended racist photos of Bachelor contestant Rachael Kirkconnell when speaking with Lindsay (Or, as Lindsay described it, speaking at or over her) on Extra.

The first black Bachelorette in US history has always been vocal about the lack of diversity with the franchise and advocated for BIPOC contestants.

She has now accepted Harrison’s apology and was quoted as saying, “We need to move forward.”

Speaking with Extra’s Billy Bush, Lindsay said “I do accept that (apology)and I think it’s important for me to say that because we need to move forward…so we can all be better from this situation, which is what we want.”

She continued, “In 2020, it was all about people realizing things that they hadn’t before. It was a level of awareness that was created that people hadn’t necessarily recognized.

And out of that also came conversations that we should be having whether they’re tough, uncomfortable, whatever it may be. Isn’t that what this should be as well?”

‘The Bachelor’ Spoilers: Lindsay is advocating for counsel not cancel.

“It’s bigger than just The Bachelor,” she continued. “It’s bigger than just a reality TV show. There are a lot of issues that have come up because of this interview, and I think it’s important that we continue the conversation, we continue to move forward. And I think that’s the best thing that we can hope for out of all of this.”

No one is quite sure what kind of changes The Bachelor franchise will implement, and whether Harrison, who has been replaced by Emmanuel Acho for the After the Final Rose special at the completion of season 25, will come back to the show full time.

The Bachelor has long been called out for lack of diversity and now, in a season with Matt James, a black male lead and the majority of the contestants identifying as women of color, producers seemed to drop the ball again, giving the lion’s share of screen time to white contestants calling each other nasty names.

One positive from the furor is, as Lindsay mentioned, the conversations that have been started. Let’s see where these conversations lead us and how they change the structure of all reality television shows and maybe even our lives.
