British Royal Family News find that it takes one to know one, right? Both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spent a lot of their time during their interview with Oprah talking about how racist and bigoted Britain can be, yet seemed to forget about Harry’s own past.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said racism was the driving force behind their decision to leave the royal family, yet some people are pointing out that Prince Harry was once part of the problem, too. Here’s what you need to know.
After the Oprah interview aired, it didn’t take long at all for royal fans and critics on both sides of the pond to point out that Prince Harry had his own racist scandal back in 2004 when he dressed up as a Nazi soldier for a costume party.

Some comments on social media have included, “As all of this unfolds and Harry turns on his family, calling them Racist bullies, I can’t help but remember how They stood by him, during his NAZI costume party boy days. This is how he repays them. Harry is weak,” along with, “Glad to hear Prince Harry has been doing the work since that time he went as a Nazi for Halloween.”
Another critic pointed out, “Could really tell Prince Harry was struggling under the oppression of the crown when he dressed as a Nazi for Halloween.”
During the interview, Harry also opened up about a moment in which someone told him not to go against the British press because of the way he and Meghan would be attacked.
Harry recalled, “He goes, ‘No, the U.K. is bigoted.’ And I said, ‘I completely disagree.’ But unfortunately, if the source of the information is inherently corrupt or racist or biased, then that filters out to the rest of society.”
Harry also said that the biased treatment of his wife Meghan was obvious to so many except his family.
“There’s a lot of people who have seen [the treatment of Meghan] for what it was… a lot of people. It’s talked about across the world yet the very people that don’t want to see it, or can’t see it, choose not to see it,” he said.
He called the dynamic between the press and the British royal family “toxic” and said he tried to “help [my family] see what has happened [to Meghan].”
