‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers find that Kyle Lowder used to be part of the furniture when it came to being on the DOOL set. He has not only played Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) and Kate Roberts’ (Lauren Koslow) son Rex on and off since 2018, he spent 5 years previously on screens as John Black’s (Drake Hogestyn) son Brady Black.
“Anytime I get a phone call that I can return to Salem, I’m just thrilled,” Lowder told Soap Opera Digest. “I was looking forward to putting Rex’s wardrobe back on and getting back to Salem and seeing all the people that I love working with and doing it again.”
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Not the Return to Set Kyle Lowder (Rex Brady) Was Hoping For.
But things on set weren’t exactly how Lowder remembered. This is the first time Lowder has returned to filming since the Covid-19 pandemic shut down Hollywood and his homecoming wasn’t as social as he had hoped.
Lowder first described to Soap Opera Digest how call times for the cast have been brought forth two hours. This is to give the actors the time to be Covid tested and have the results come back before they are okayed to film.
Not that Lowder minded. “I’m driving to the studio, at like 4:45 in the morning,” he said. But, instead of complaining, he recalled, “I was so consumed with gratitude.”
He did express disappointment, however, at not being able to wish his co-stars good morning with a coffee from craft services or to run lines with scene partners or re familiarize himself with the set. “So a place that has always been communal has gotten kind of quiet because of the state of things,” he lamented.
While he was able to connect with the co-stars he shared scenes with and Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez) who was being Covid tested at the same time, he found it very strange that he wasn’t able to hang out in ex-wife, Arianne Zucker’s, (Nicole Walker )dressing room, even to discuss their shared daughter, 11 year old Isabella.
Another co-star Lowder was excited to be reunited with was Jay Kenneth Johnson (Philip Kiriakis). However, their reunion-16 years in the making- will have to wait a little longer as their paths did not cross.
Nonetheless, Lowder still had a great time returning to his old stomping grounds. “I loved it,” he raved, adding, “Anytime the Days of Our Lives phone rings, I’m there. I’m grateful for the time I was given this time around.”
Watch Lowder shake thing up as Rex, especially for Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) on Days of Our Lives, weekdays on NBC.
