British Royal Family News is asking are you ready for a Round 2? There are new reports that suggest more unaired footage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Oprah interview might see some air time in the UK.
Oprah herself revealed that her interview was over 3 hours and 20 minutes long, but was trimmed down to 85 minutes when it was finally aired around the world.
Over 50 million people have tuned in to see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tell their side of the story about life behind closed palace doors.
British Royal Family News: More Unaired Footage Of Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Oprah Interview Might Air In The UK
While there were a handful of clips that were revealed on CBS This Morning the morning after Harry and Meghan’s interview aired, there is still about 90 minutes of footage that hasn’t been seen by the public.
According to Page Six, ITV is keen on airing the rest of the footage, after more than 12 million watched the initial TV special. The network paid almost $1.4 million to air the interview in the UK earlier this month.
“There is a lot of interest in showing the interview in full,” an industry source says. “The original program was the biggest show of the year so far in the UK and was bought by firms around the world. Showing more of it would be a guaranteed ratings winner. Oprah’s production company know they’re sitting on a goldmine so it’s possible a deal could be done.”
Before the interview aired, there reports suggesting that the BBC had no interest in airing the interview. One tipster at the time claimed the corporation was not involved in the fierce bid war for international rights. The source said: “We’re not going to pull out the checkbook for that.”
