’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers indicate that Hazel Cagalitan and fiancé Tarik Myers are slated to get married in a few days, Hazel even managed to procure a dress for Tarik’s daughter, little Auri, even though Auri didn’t really want to wear it at the time.
Honestly, I’m glad someone talked Auri into wearing that dress and that didn’t result in a really big temper tantrum, but I digress. Auri tried on her dress, it fit, all’s well that ends well on that front. Since Hazel was sort of feeling her win on that front, and feeling bullet-proof, she decided to do the thing that had been bugging her for months, probably since before she left the Phillipines.

When Hazel said that her family was deeply religious and were strict born-again Christians, I was worried. That usually does not end well for the LGBT child involved.
They even showed a pentecostal church service with Hazel’s family and they were fully in the spirit, while Tarik just sat there and observed, Tarik seems to be more of the ‘frozen chosen’ types, or maybe the holy spirit just didn’t decide to hit him specifically that day – it’s alright, us non-pentecostal brethren understand, Tarik.
The second Hazel came out, saying that she liked both men and women and that Tarik was okay with her having a girlfriend, her Mom instantly shut it down. She said “No. We must pray fervently. I hope it goes away.” what she doesn’t understand is, that’s not how sexual orientation works.
It doesn’t just ‘go away’ like that and just because one prays it doesn’t make one any less LGBT than they were before. Hazel was upset that her Mom wasn’t accepting, but her Dad was a totally different story. Her Dad said that as long as Hazel was happy, he was happy, and coming from a deeply religious man, that’s saying a lot.
It looks like Hazel’s Dad has been reading up on his Christian principles lately and isn’t into judging or abandoning his daughter just because of her sexual orientation. I’m glad that he can embrace Hazel for who she is, and that she can feel accepted by at least one of her parents.
She’s sad that her Mom may not ever understand who she really is, but she says for now, she’ll be happy with the fact that her Dad is okay with her. We’re all happy for Hazel, being able to live her truth. Stay tuned!!!
