Canadian actress Annie Murphy is selling off a one-of-a-kind keepsake from her time on the award-winning hit series Schitt’s Creek. And proceeds will go to two different charities.
Murphy, who won the 2020 Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Annie Rose, set up her first auction last week. The highest bidder walked away with her first-ever red carpet dress while the winning bid of $7000 was donated to another two North American charities.
This time fans will be bidding for a paper plate. But it’s not just any paper plate.
‘Schitt’s Creek’ Star Annie Murphy Auctioned Off A Paper Plate!
Murphy announced the newest auction with an Instagram post this weekend, giving a few background details on the paper plate in question. The plate was used in lieu of a notepad to write down the lyrics to “A Little Bit Alexis” before she recorded the song.
Fans of the multi-award-winning comedy series will remember Murphy’s character, Alexis singing and dancing to “A Little Bit Alexis” as her audition for the town musical. Before her, ah…interesting routine, Alexis announced the song was the title number from her “limited” release reality show.
As well as the first verse of the now-iconic song, the plate also contains more lyrics that never made it to air, only adding to the value of the behind the Schitt’s Creek scenes piece.
While the much loved Canadian show is still currently streaming on Netflix, Schitt’s Creek has finished filming for good, ending on a high note after six seasons. When speaking with the New York Times, Murphy said, “The show has opened a lot of doors and I’m trying to look at the future not as a daunting bleak abyss of hell, but an exciting adventure.”
It seems a bit of philanthropy might just be her next step- nice job Annie!
