Mariah Carey Launches A New Cookie Range

She announced the news to her fans on Twitter : “Cooking a new flavour for Valentine’s! mariahcareyscookies.com.” So what was the reasoning behind this venture, aside from the money on the line? Well, Restaurateur Robert Earl explained what makes these cookies unique. He said:

“Mariah and I have chatted over the years about working together on a food business and, with her love of baking, cookies were a natural fit. As Mariah is synonymous with the holidays and celebration, we will make sure that her special holiday flavours are available not only for the holidays but year-round.”

Mariah could do with some much-needed love after she was recently sued by her sister Alison Carey for allegedly causing her emotional distress for financial gain. The official court documents claimed: “[The] Defendant used her status as a public figure to attack her penniless sister, generating sensational headlines describing her lurid claims to promote sales of her book.

“[The] Defendant’s cruel and outrageous allegations have devastated the plaintiff. Already struggling with the unspeakable trauma of her childhood and having her own children abandon her, she has become severely depressed and uncharacteristically tearful since the publication of defendant’s book and now struggles, after a long time clean, with alcohol abuse.”

And the cookie venture seems timely given that her sister is requesting a big payout. “[Alison] Plaintiff will demand an amount no less than $1.25 million compensation for the infliction of immense emotional distress caused by defendant’s heartless, vicious, vindictive, despicable and totally unnecessary public humiliation of defendant’s already profoundly damaged older sister.”

Mariah, for her part, believed she had good grounds after she claimed (in her book) that she was abused by her sister. She wrote: “When I was 12 years old, my sister drugged me with Valium, offered me a pinky nail full of cocaine, inflicted me with third-degree burns, and tried to sell me out to a pimp. Something in me was arrested by all that trauma. That is why I often say, ‘I’m eternally 12.’ I am still struggling through that time.”
