James Franco has officially confirmed that he has reached a settlement against the 2019 lawsuit, which alleged that the actor had been engaging in sexual misconduct during his acting school classes.

The victims in question were Sarah Tither-Kaplan and Toni Gaal. Sarah, at the time, said: “I feel there was an abuse of power, and there was a culture of exploiting non-celebrity women, and a culture of women being replaceable.” However, both will no longer be pressing ahead with their claims.

At the time that the allegations were made, James did not seem to be too fussed about it all. This may have been due to the fact that he knew he was innocent and that any action would ultimately fall short. And that is precisely what seems to have happened. When speaking on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, he said:

“In my life, I pride myself on taking responsibility for things that I’ve done. I have to do that to maintain my well-being. I do it whenever I know that there is something wrong or needs to be changed; I make it a point to do it.

“The things that I heard that were on Twitter are not accurate, but I completely support people coming out and being able to have a voice because they didn’t have a voice for so long. So I don’t want to, you know, shut them down in any way. It’s, I think, a good thing, and I support it.”

And by the looks of it, James was always a supporter of diversity, and he made this known at the Golden Globes, where he wore a badge to support such causes. He continued: “Well, first, I want to say I wore it because I do support it. I was, you know – look, I was so excited to win, but being in that room that night was incredible. I mean, it was powerful. There were incredible voices, and I support it.

“I support change. I support 50/50 and 20/20, which just means, you know, people that are underrepresented, women, and people of colour, people in the LGBT community get, you know, positions – leadership positions that they fill all positions that they have been deprived of, I completely believe in that.”
