Claudia Conway is already an idol to millions, but now she is hoping to add “American Idol” to her name.
Claudia set social media ablaze yet again Monday night, but thankfully this time it wasn’t due to conflict with her mother, former Trump advisor, Kellyanne Conway. It was because she was featured on a commercial for the popular singing contest.
American Idol confirmed Claudia will meet with and sing for judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. The tweet showed some of Claudia’s own TikTok footage and the 16-year-old speaking with the judges while giant photos of Mom, Kellyanne and father, George Conway were plastered on LED screens behind her.
Claudia Conway may be your next American Idol
“You heard that right. @ClaudiaMConwayy is looking for a golden ticket. Find out Sunday if she has what it takes to be #TheNextIdol on #AmericanIdol.”
While many fans of either the Conways, American Idol or The Bachelor (which is when the commercial debuted) were shocked,
Many more were excited or relieved.
However, it does look like Claudia will have to work hard to win some over.
Claudia, who has over 1.7 million followers posted a video on TikTok clarifying that music is her passion and her appearance on Idol is no different than any other aspiring singer’s.
“I know I made a video in November saying I was auditioning, I did audition, and it will be on air this Sunday, Feb. 14. I’ve been singing my whole life. I grew up in musical theatre. Music has been one of the pillars in my life and I wouldn’t be here without it,” Claudia explained.
“I play about eight instruments. I’ve just been doing it since I could walk. They saw a video I posted as a joke of me singing and they were like, ‘Hey, do you want to audition?’ and I was like, ‘Oh s—, yeah.’ Because who wouldn’t? So, everyone thinks that this is a publicity stunt or me trying to be like, whatever, but no – music is my passion.”
Claudia has become a social media star over the past year, namely for being both oppositional and outspoken on her parents’ political stances. Some of her videos sparked concern and allegations of child abuse, especially when it seemed Kellyanne had purposely posted a topless photo of her daughter. In a rare occurrence, Claudia defended her mother saying Kellyanne was hacked and did not post the photo as a sort of revenge porn. Not all fans were convinced, thinking Claudia may be making statements under duress.
If you want to see if Claudia makes it from Washington to Hollywood, watch American Idol, premiering on Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
