British Broadcasters Want A Piece Of Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Oprah Interview

British Royal Family News find that even though a recent poll suggested half of Britons have no interest in watching Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah, there’s a new report that says British broadcasters are scrambling to get the rights for the interview.

That’s probably because that half of Britons who say they are uninterested will probably be watching the interview with one eye open and one eye closed. Here’s what you need to know.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview, titled, ‘Oprah With Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special,’ will air on Sunday, March 7th and has so far launched a hot UK bidding war for its rights to air across the pond.

British Royal Family News: British Broadcasters Want A Piece Of Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Oprah Interview

According to Variety, Comcast-backed pay-TV operator Sky and free-to-air player ITV were among those bidding for the interview. What’s more, a BBC source confirmed that the public broadcaster is not involved in the process.

“The BBC is not involved in a bidding war on this,” said the source. As of Wednesday, it’s believed that Sky is also out of the running, leaving ITV as the main contender.

It’s also been noted that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2019 interview with ITV journalist Tom Bradby as part of his documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, was one of the highest rated interviews that year.

While very few details have been released about the tell-all, there’s speculation that Oprah will ask the royal couple everything that fans want to know, including the real reason why they left the royal family behind, if they are indeed feuding with Prince William and Kate Middleton, and if they will ever return to London again.

With that said, it looks like Queen Elizabeth is preparing a clapback of her own. She will speak in a televised address on Sunday March 7, and a day ahead of Commonwealth Day. The Queen will share her message in a program that will air on BBC One.
