‘Welcome to Plathville’ spoilers show a family torn now Ethan Plath has finally ‘manned up’ to defend his wife, Olivia Plath. In the highly anticipated season 2 finale of Welcome to Plathville, viewers were delighted to see eldest son Ethan finally draw the line with his over-bearing and ultra-conservative parents, Kim Plath and Barry Plath.
Throughout the season, viewers came to see that Ethan and Olivia had completely broken ties with half of his family, but only slightly hazy reasons were ever provided.
‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoliers: Ethan Plath vs. Kim and Barry Plath in explosive season 2 finale.
The season 2 conflict boiled down to the parents refusing Ethan and Olivia access to Ethan’s five youngest siblings: Lydia (16), Isaac (14), Amber (11), Cassia (9) and Mercy (7), along with some very nasty words being spoken about Ethan’s wife of two years. Ethan has been hard on himself for not defending his wife, who lamented many times that she wanted to move out of their small town of Cairo, where all the Plaths currently live, in three fractured households.
As Olivia finally gets her wish and she and husband Ethan prepare to leave town, Ethan decides to confront his parents and demand to say goodbye to his siblings.
While usually strong-willed Olivia was visibly shaken and fearful of being too close to the Plath parents’ home, one had to wonder if there were more reasons for the tension than what any of the Plaths had disclosed. Fans cheered Ethan on as he confronted his parents.
With out-of-character ferocity, Ethan stood strong saying, “I’d like to say goodbye to [my siblings] and say goodbye to you. This isn’t a debate or conversation. This is my statement to you.”
He also told his silenced parents, “Some of the biggest regrets of my life were listening to you two tell Olivia things about her and I didn’t say anything. And I wish to God that I had.”
“You both know if you can’t accept her, then you don’t get me either. That’s where I’m drawing the line, that’s where the line is going to stay until something happens.
While the 5 youngest Plaths watched from a window, Kim attempted to placate her son, telling him, “I hear you. And I know that you’ve been through a lot. I know that you’ve both been through a lot.”
Ethan retorted with, “Yeah, thanks to you.”
Some of the hurtful comments Barry and Kim had made in regards to Ethan and Olivia’s marriage and lifestyle were revealed. While Barry would not admit to saying the exact words, he did offer his son an apology. “Well, if I hurt you, I’m sorry,” he said.
This was not well received with Ethan firing back: “It’s very nice of you to say that on camera in front of everyone.”
The children were finally allowed out of the house to say goodbye to their oldest brother, but yet again, the mention of Olivia also speaking with the children away from Kim and Barry’s controlling and watchful eye, caused things to spiral out of control.
When Barry took it upon himself to ‘visit’ Olivia as she sat nervously in the car away from the fray, Ethan grabbed his father by the arm, warning him to stay away from his wife.
Poor young Isaac was the one to diffuse the physical altercation while his siblings stood in tears, watching the drama unfold.
With such unrest amongst the family members, Plathville fans are eagerly awaiting a season 3 return.
