Netflix’s ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 3 Spoilers: Johnny Lawrence’s (William Zabka) Closure With Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue) Was Exactly What He Needed

Netflix’s ‘Cobra Kai’ season 3 spoilers show that Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) has been living in the past for too long, unfortunately, that’s also why we love him. His character is brash, full of himself, and completely politically incorrect. He literally still lives in the 1980s and it’s what makes his transformation such an interesting part of the show.

Speaking of living in the past, he’s lived off of his high school memories for a very long time, including thinking about Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue), who was his girlfriend until that Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) kid showed up and ruined everything. Johnny has been thinking about Ali for decades, and since he discovered Facebook, he’s actually gotten the chance to talk to her again.

Netflix’s ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 3 Spoilers: Johnny Lawrence’s (William Zabka) Closure With Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue) Was Exactly What He Needed

This is where we get the hilarious and fun moment of Johnny trying to update his Facebook profile with new pictures that he thinks Ali would like. However, he just ends up looking like a doofus and instead decides to be honest and post photos of him and Cobra Kai, before Kreese took over.

Ali starts a conversation on Facebook with Johnny and asks him out to lunch once she’s in town for the holidays. He continues to try to impress her here by ordering vegan, meanwhile, she orders a cheeseburger. For the rest of the episode, it feels like they’re going to rekindle their relationship and it’s such a nostalgic moment, not just for them but for us, the viewers.

I think a lot of us were really pulling for Johnny, however, what it turned out he needed was closure. Johnny has a good thing going with Miguel Diaz’s (Xolo Maridueña) mom, which is, well, I’m sure they’ll get it worked out, but while we wanted to see Ali and Johnny together, Johnny is beginning to learn what’s best for him.

Johnny ends the night out with her but slowly walking away down the stairs with a grin on his face. He knows what he wants, he knows who he loves and he has finally been able to close the door with Ali, much to our chagrin.

It was a great moment in the series and seeing Elisabeth Shue as Ali again was truly special. Hopefully, she’ll return in season four!
