Armie Hammer Speaks Out On Social Media Controversy

A spokesperson for the film told Us Weekly: “Given the imminent start date of Shotgun Wedding, Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision.” But before rumours could start circulating on what the reason could be, Armie set the record straight. Speaking to TMZ, he said:

“I’m not responding to these bulls—t claims, but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for four months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic. “Lionsgate is supporting me in this, and I’m grateful to them for that.”

So what caused these criticisms on social media to arise? They all stem from allegations that Armie had sent many different women DM messages that discussed issues of cannibalism and the posts were attributed to the actor.

And yet, the flames of controversy continue to burn as, Jessica Ciencin Henriquez who had a romantic connection with Armie did not deny that the star was capable of it. Instead, she went on to tweet: ” I’m seeing a lot of posts going around about how I am a man-hater, and I would just like to clarify: Yes. I love women. I respect women. I stand by women, and I hate men who don’t.”

But the man is no stranger to controversy after having had the spotlight shone on him, due to his comments. In a previous interview with Playboy, he said: “I liked the grabbing of the neck and the hair and all that. But then you get married, and your sexual appetites change “And I mean that for the better — it’s not like I’m suffering in any way. But you can’t really pull your wife’s hair.”

And his previous decision to quit social media was probably a wise move. When addressing it, he said: “Anytime I would open up my Twitter, it was just a ton of that,’ he said, ‘and I was like, ‘Nope, I can’t have my nose rubbed in this anymore. I’m out!” With Armie not filming, he has time to focus on himself.
