TLC ‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers: Lydia Comments On Moriah Plath’s Non-Courtship!

‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers finds that Moriah brought Max over, Mom and Dad were trepidacious, but the little girls were chill about it and innocently just accepted him as normal. They literally didn’t know not to accept him and it was adorable watching Moriah giggle about her new boyfriend with her little sister.

Lydia however, was oddly mum. You could tell she wanted to say things, lots of things, but she just kept quiet and smiled instead, letting Moriah talk about her experiences with her sisters. Moriah gave her little sisters some sage advice though, she said that when they met a boy that they liked to do what was best for them. Wise words, coming from a 17 year old.

‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers: Lydia comments on Moriah’s non-courtship

Lydia said that Moriah dating was very different from how Hosanna and Timothy and Ethan and Olivia courted. She described courtship as a more formal way of dating and how this was literally the first time one of the siblings had brought home someone that they had never seen before, like, ever.

(This gives some clues about Micah’s ex, so apparently she was a girl they had all met before, we know this because if she hadn’t been, Lydia would have mentioned it.) Lydia said that no one in their family had dated like this before, just start seeing someone and see where it goes.

‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers: Poor, sweet, naive, innocent, Lydia.

As much as Lydia claims not to judge Moriah, I do sense a little judgment coming off of her for this, but only because I honestly don’t think she knows any better. She hasn’t been educated to think any broader than what Kim and Barry want her to think, and right now, she doesn’t really see the need to. She’s okay, complacent even, in her role in the Plath home.

Also, she’s just 16, so it’s okay if she’s taking a little bit longer to spread her wings. When the time comes, she may end up needing Moriah to tell her how to exist in the world without Mom and Dad, and I’m sure Moriah will be there to welcome her with open arms, but right now…

I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think Lydia, while not prejudiced against her sister, definitely questions her choices. It’d be interesting to see what she actually thought instead of putting up that Stepford Plath facade, maybe someday. Stay tuned!!!
