Keith Raniere’s Cult NXIVM Normalized Rape, This Is How Nancy Salzman Made Women Fall For It

While she was in the NXIVM cult, she was forced to take these ‘women empowerment’ courses, that weren’t really empowering at all, but rather designed to tear a woman down to cult leader Keith Raniere’s will.

The thing that India had a problem with was this new Jness curriculum where they were teaching that it’s not in a man’s nature to be with only one woman and that monogamy is unnatirual and that a man can totally love one woman while having sex with another woman, and the thing is, Nancy Salzman was peddling these ideas to young women and they were eating every drop of it, willingly.

NXIVM normalized rape

The thing about India is, she was young. She started in the cult at 19 years old, by the time this started happening she was 23 and she was in a relationship that seemed to be headed toward some pretty serious territory. Of course, she was going to question this doctrine that basically gave the man the okay to cheat simply because he was born a biological male and she wasn’t.

But then whenever she would question it, she was forced to get what they called an “EM” from a coach at NXIVM. What is an EM? It’s a term Raniere himself coined, called “Exploration of Meaning” and through these EMs this cult’s victims would be desensitized to their natural trauma responses.

Slowly, India learned that a lot of the couples within the organization were partner-swapping and that this narrative of sex was continually repeated throughout their curriculums. The scary thing is, throughout the documentary there is actual footage of Raniere talking about how “the screaming of abuse is often abuse in itself” and at one point he even advocates the raping of babies.

I wish I was kidding, that’s on video tape of him saying that he could make a baby into “a very rapable baby”. There aren’t words for how sick this man was, and he had thousands of people across the globe believing him!

They said that the cult was really popular in Mexico, and often they would have retreats down there. There was also a lot of Mexican members, including the president and first lady of Mexico at one point. The Jness program started to normalize rape in a very scary way, the lesson was that rape wasn’t rape if a victim didn’t choose to see it that way and they really made it a point to drill it into these victims’ heads.

One victim who had been sexually assaulted by a caretaker when her family was in the Children of God cult in the Phillipines said that the way NXIVM talked about rape did not make one ounce of sense to her, and even though she wanted to leave the cult, she didn’t. She didn’t want to admit that she had been suckered in by another cult.
