US President Donald J. Trump Claims ‘Can I Change My Vote’ Trends Because Voters Want To Switch To Him From Joe Biden – Is He Right?

Nearly 60 million Americans have already cast their vote, but it looks like many are wondering if they can change their vote, according to Google Trends.

On Google, the phrase ‘can I change my vote’ peaked Tuesday morning. Many of the subregions where it boomed were battleground states like Maine, Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Iowa, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Arizona.

To clear the first question up, yes there are some states that allow absentee ballots to be changed before the election. States like New York allow you to show up and vote at a poll if you’ve sent in an absentee ballot, and the absentee will simply be put aside and not counted, according to the state Board of Elections…

President Donald Trump tweeted out that he assumes it was voters wanting to change their ballot for him. Take a look at his tweet below.

‘Can I Change My Vote’ Trends – Trump Claims It’s Because Voters Want To Switch To Him

This has caused quite a stir among the public, mostly over people not knowing or misunderstanding the rules for changing a vote. If you show up to vote in person, you cannot change it. That’s absolutely true, however, like in the example above, it is possible. So, believe it or not, Trump is not lying in his tweet. There are a vast majority of Americans who can change their vote if they requested an absentee ballot and already voted.

While the sudden uptick in the Google Trend didn’t happen until 5 days after his second debate, there are arguments that people were just getting around to looking it up and settling in. Or, with social media, some memes were getting passed around and it took a few days for people to start searching to find out if it were true or not.

It’s an interesting thing for sure, and one that should be noticed, though whether it was because of Trump’s debate is, well, up for debate.

What do you think? Do you think Trump is going to get more voters with this? Let us know in the comments below.
