UFC News: Shock Decision Made By Frank Mir, As He Signs For New Promotion

It has been a huge week of news in the UFC, with the company recently revealing that they have managed to bring in Michael Chandler from Bellator. However, there have also been departures from the company this week, with one of the stars that has left in the past being Frank Mir.

It has now been revealed that Mir has signed a deal elsewhere, and it could come as a huge shock for fans. Mir enjoyed an excellent run in the UFC where he won the heavyweight championship, but now he will embark on a career with the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

UFC News: Mir Makes Big Decision

It will be considered as a huge decision by Mir to sign for the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, as the sport is completely different from MMA.

Mir’s last fight in MMA came in Bellator as he beat Roy Nelson last year. His contract with the company came to an end in April, which meant that he was a free agent available for all companies to contact.

That victory helped Mir end a run of four straight defeats, which includes two defeats in his final outings in the octagon. However, there is no doubting that the former UFC champion still offers an awful lot that BKFC will be able to work with.

Mir was one of the most successful UFC stars, and there will still be MMA fans that fondly remember his run during the height of his career.

UFC News: Mir’s MMA Record

Despite fighting in Bellator most recently, Mir remains a fighter that is more synonymous with the UFC. He has stepped into the octagon against some of the biggest names in MMA, including Daniel Cormier, Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem.

His win over Lesnar back in 2008 remains the biggest of his career, as he made the former WWE star submit within the opening round in Las Vegas.

His last victory in the UFC came in 2015 when he beat Todd Duffee via KO. Since 2018, he has been competing in Bellator, where he has won once in three fights. That victory came in October last year when he beat Nelson via decision.

It has been an exciting couple of weeks for BKFC fans, as the company also signed Paige VanZant recently, which means it only seems a matter of time before they are a mainstream success in the United States.
