UFC News: Holly Holm And Irene Aldana To Headline This Weekend’s Fight Island 4

UFC fans have been kept entertained over the past couple of weeks, as there have been a number of engrossing match-ups. That will continue this weekend, as there is an exciting fight in the women’s bantamweight division to look forward to. The fight will be taking place from Fight Island is Abu Dhabi, which will mean primetime viewing for fans in North America.

 

However, the fight between Holm and Aldana isn’t the only exciting fight on the card, as Yorgan De Castro will also battle against Carlos Felipe and Germaine de Randamie will take on Julianna Pena.

 

UFC News: Holm Favourite Against Aldana

 

Holly Holm is one of the most famous women athletes in the UFC, and she will be looking to improve her record to 14 wins from her 19 professional bouts this weekend. She is currently rated as the second best woman in the bantamweight division, and comes into this fight having won last time out against Raquel Pennington.

 

That was a unanimous decision victory back in January, and was only her second fight since returning to the bantamweight division. She could be in line for another re-match for the title if she wins this fight against Aldana. She last competed for the title in 2019, but she was unsuccessful as he was beaten via TKO by Amanda Nunes. Before that fight, she won at featherweight against Megan Anderson. Holm will go into this fight as the heavy favourite in the betting.

 

UFC News: Aldana Looking To Cause A Shock

 

There is no doubting Aldana’s pedigree in the octagon, as she has the second best defensive takedown in UFC history. She also comes into this fight against Holm in good form, as she has won her last two fights. She has also won five of her last six fights in the UFC. Aldana’s last defeat in the UFC came back in July last year, as she was beaten via split division by Raquel Pennington.

 

Aldana’s last two wins have come against Vanessa Melo and Ketlen Vieira. The latter of those saw her awarded the performance of the night accolade as she won by knock out inside the opening round. It could be a thrilling fight for MMA fans to look forward to this weekend, with huge implications on who will be challenging for the title next.
