TLC ’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After’ spoilers is asking if you remember back in Brazil, where we had a moment of hope? Where Colt Johnson basically told Debbie Johnson that if she had a problem she could go stay in the hotel while he stayed with Jess Caroline’s family and worked things out with his girlfriend?
That was early in the season and it made us kind of halfway want to root for this couple whom, honestly we knew probably didn’t have half a chance but it takes a lot for a man like Colt to stand up to his Mom so we were willing to respect his efforts, or at least I was.
And then we saw the whole breakup scene with Jess. After they had the whole discussion about Colt basically exposing himself over DM to 8 different women in a month, then Colt dropped the bomb on her about Vanessa Guerra.
It was heartbreaking to hear Jess’s cry of “No!” because she honestly thought that he would respect her wishes and not associate with Vanessa anymore. The thing is, it looked like, wen they left Brazil that Colt was ready to comply with whatever Jess wanted, but I do believe Debbie had other ideas.

That’s about the time when Debbie poked her head in and told Jess that it was her idea to move in and that she didn’t ask Colt’s permission. Jess could tell, along with all the audience, that Debbie was just saying this to take the heat off of Colt and Jess was not having any of it.
She wanted to have a conversation with Colt, not his Mom, so finally, Colt stepped in and just told her to go back upstairs in one of those rare tolerable moments he has That’s when Jess royally let him have it, and I for one don’t blame her.
Colt could have insisted that Vanessa stay at a hotel, that he felt uncomfortable with her staying at with them because of Jess’s feelings on the matter but as far as we can tell Colt was too busy taking naughty pictures to actually listen to anything Jess was actually saying.
Honestly, whatever spine he had he must have left at the dinner table near Jess’s Dad when he went down to Brazil. The second he wasn’t being held accountable by someone, he crumbled. When he got back to the states with Debbie this was very apparent.
The trip to Brazil upset DEbbie and no doubt when she got back she was mad at Colt so obviously, he wnted to try to appease Mom again. What does he do? He lets Mama walk all over him and stops taking Jes’s feelings into consideration.
I’m going to assume that this was because Mama was mad at him and he was trying to get back into her good graces. Of course Mama being mad at him must hav been stressful so Colt sought attention.
He wanted validation so he sought it out wherever he could find it. Although I honestly don’t know what kind of affirmation these 8 women would have given him besides, “Yes, I recieved your picture… what exactly is that?” ahem.
Good for Jess, walking out. As far as Colt goes… I don’t think he needs to quit his dayjob anytime soon. He said that he was a designer or artist before, right? Well, if he’s so inclined maybe he can design himself a convincing prosthetic device, if you know what I mean. Stay tuned!!!
