NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers reveal that star Lucas Adams (Tripp Dalton) knew that he would be returning to the fictional city of Salem sooner rather than later. Why? Because unlike so many other characters that come and go, Tripp was never killed off. In fact, before he left the show, DOOL producers even told him that he would be coming back, but it was just a matter of when.
“They kind of gave me the thought, when I left, because they said, ‘Hey, you’re not dying. We’re sending you to medical school for a reason,’” Lucas recently told Soap Opera Digest in a new interview. “So I [knew I] could come back as a doctor. I knew it was a possibility.”

With that said, Lucas says that Tripp certainly isn’t the same person that he was when he last left Salem. As many fans can remember, he agreed to marry Haley Chen (Thia Megia), in order to keep her from being deported back to China. Unfortunately, that didn’t sit very well with Tripp’s girlfriend, Claire Brady (Olivia Rose Keegan), who was hellbent on making sure that no one was going to touch her man.
“His maturity level has really stepped up,” explains Adams. “When he comes back, he’s more established. He’s been in medical school a couple of years and has been doing really well with it. He’s taking himself more seriously, as well as other things. I love playing him this way. Right now, he’s very close to how I am.”
Lucas also added that during the pandemic, he took some time off to spend quality time with his family back in Colorado. Now that he is feeling refreshed again, he’s ready to get busy with work!
“As soon as I got back and started talking to everybody, it was almost like I hadn’t left,” Lucas told the publication. “Everybody was happy to be there and happy to see me. It was a really cool feeling, like being back with your family. It made it pretty easy to get back in the groove.”
