Mariah Carey Admits Ellen DeGeneres Did Bully Her With Pregnancy Reveal On Her Show

It’s a clip we’ve all seen one too many times and yes, it’s one that also made us cringe one too many times as well. Of course, we are talking about the recently resurfaced and viral video of Ellen DeGeneres seemingly forcing Mariah Carey to announce her pregnancy on her talk show back in 2008.

And according to the chart topper herself, it was just as uncomfortable for her as it was for her fans to watch. Here’s what she has to say.

In the clip, Ellen, the former ‘Queen of Nice’ is seen trying to get Mariah to toast with a glass of champagne in while on her show and in front of the cameras and a studio audience.

Mariah didn’t want to take a sip of her glass of champagne, knowing that she was already pregnant with her twins at the time. Ellen, however, kept pushing Mariah to drink in order to either confirm or deny the speculation that she was expecting at the time.

Speaking to Vulture in a new interview, Mariah admits that she certainly felt pressured by Ellen at the time but was not ready to make any public announcements about her pregnancy, seeing how she had just miscarried her child before.

She said, “I was extremely uncomfortable with that moment is all I can say. And I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath. I wasn’t ready to tell anyone because I had had a miscarriage. I don’t want to throw anyone that’s already being thrown under any proverbial bus, but I didn’t enjoy that moment.

Mariah continued that there is “an empathy that can be applied to those moments that I would have liked to have been implemented.”

Mariah’s comments come at a time when things couldn’t be any worse for the embattled daytime television talk show host. Ellen DeGeneres is not only facing allegations that she is a mean and wicked employer who doesn’t like it when her staff looks her in the eye, but for an open investigation into allegations made that her talk show is a toxic environment full of sexual misconduct, too.
