UFC News: Paige VanZant Leaves UFC And Signs With The Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship

UFC news revealed last night that Paige VanZant has decided on the next step in her career. There were reported rumours that the MMA star could be set for a spell in WWE or Bellator, but those rumours were put to rest on a social media post on Wednesday evening as she revealed that she had signed with the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

It caused a degree of shock amongst MMA fans, as they immediately shared their belief that it could be a backwards step in her career. However, VanZant refuted these claims by admitting that this was certainly not the case, and that she was really excited to get started in the new company, and her first fight could be before the end of the year.

UFC News: VanZant Hoping To Prove Doubters Wrong

VanZant also admitted in an interview on Instagram that she wanted to prove to everybody that she wasn’t ‘just a pretty face’, and that she will be able to compete with the best women in the division at BKFC. The decision to sign with BKFC came after Dana White revealed last month that VanZant would be exploring the free agency.

She revealed in an interview with ESPN that the opportunity was too good to turn down and that she is looking forward to trying her hand at a ‘brand new sport’. In the same interview, she also admitted that she was keen to show that she was more than a ‘pretty face’ and is already prepared for the cuts that she will likely get when she fights for the first time.

UFC News: VanZant’s UFC Journey

The 26-year-old signed with the UFC in 2013 and instantly became a star in the women’s division. Her popularity reached new levels four years ago as she took part in Dancing With The Stars, as she reached the final. During her time in UFC, she won five times and was beaten on four occasions.

The most recent of those came just last month as she lost via submission to Amanda Ribas at Fight Island. Her last victory also came via submission as she beat Rachael Ostovich at the beginning of January. Her overall MMA record shows that she won eight times and lost on five occasions. However, VanZant refused to rule out a potential return to MMA in the future.
