UFC News: Could Brock Lesnar Potentially Challenge Jon Jones In The UFC?

The UFC world has been rocked this week with the retirement of Daniel Cormier following his defeat to Stipe Miocic at UFC 252, and there appears to be a void that is there to be filled.

It has been revealed recently that Jon Jones will be making the step up to heavyweight after opting to vacate his light heavyweight title, and fans of MMA are already drawing up potential dream bouts for Jones.

ESPN journalist Marc Raimondi shared his thoughts on the fights that he would like to see Jones involved in, as he claimed that Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou would be standout fights. However, he also teased that he would love to see a potential fight between Brock Lesnar and Jon Jones. But, did reveal that the timing may not be right now.

UFC News: Is Lesnar Done With UFC?

There was huge shock when Lesnar decided to embark on a career in UFC after leaving the WWE for the first time. However, he quickly made a name for himself by winning inside the first minute against Min-Soo Kim. After just over a year in UFC he won the heavyweight championship after brutally knocking out Randy Couture in the second round.

Lesnar defended the championship on two occasions, as he beat Frank Mir and Shane Cawin, before he lost the title against Cain Valasquez in the first round. A second defeat followed in 2011 against Alistair Overeem, before Lesnar returned to the WWE.

However, he has always teased a potential return and did so in 2016 when he beat Mark Hunt. However, the victory was overturned to a NC after Lesnar tested positive for clomiphene.

UFC News: Cormier Tease And Retirement

It would appear as though Lesnar could be done with MMA for good now after officially retiring for a second time back in 2018. His decision to do so came just months after he stormed the octagon to confront newly crowned champion Daniel Cormier. There was an expectancy that the fight could happen, but Dana White revealed that Lesnar was done with MMA.

That could mean that a potential fight between Lesnar and Jones is unlikely to happen. But, there are still a number of interesting fights that fans of MMA will be waiting to see, with Jones vs Miocic and Jones vs Ngannou likely to headline a huge event at some point in the future.
