UFC 252 Main Card: Junior dos Santos vs Jairzinho Rozenstruik

It promises to be an enthralling night of MMA action at UFC 252 as the main card will be headlined by the trilogy fight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier. However, the undercard to that huge fight is also interesting, with a number of high-quality fighters involved in the action on Saturday evening.

One of the most interesting of those will see Junior dos Santos step up to take on Jairzinho Rozenstruik in the heavyweight division. Both fighters have enjoyed success throughout their MMA career, but this could be among the biggest fights that they have ever had in the UFC.

UFC 252 Main Card: Dos Santos Looking For Title Shot

This is a potentially huge fight for both of these athletes as dos Santos is ranked fifth in the heavyweight ratings, while Jairzinho Rozenstruik is ranked sixth. The winner could be in line for a shot at the champion if they are successful in this bout. Dos Santos is no stranger to the title picture, as he has held the Heavyweight Championship on one previous occasion.

He won the belt after brutally knocking out Cain Velasquez back in 2011, before he lost the title back to the same opponent just over a year later. Dos Santos completed a trilogy with Velasquez, but was beaten in the third and final fight. He is looking to regain his title, after previously losing on his last opportunity for the gold after he was beaten by Stipe Miocic. Dos Santos has lost his last two fights, with those coming against Francis Ngannou and Curtis Blaydes.

UFC 252: Rozenstruik Hoping To Re-Find Momentum

Rozenstruik had been seen as one of the most progressive fighters in the UFC since joining the company in 2019. His record as a professional has been staggering, as he has won ten of his eleven fights. The only blotch on that record came in the fight against Ngannou earlier in the year, as he was knocked out inside a minute.

The 32-year-old will be hopeful of getting back to winning ways after beating talented opponents already in the UFC. Before that fight against Ngannou, he had beaten Alistair Overeem, Andrei Arlovski and Allen Crowder, with all three of these being won by KO. He does appear to be a KO-specialist, having won nine of his ten wins via that method. But, this will be a much testing fight for the American.
