Generally, conjoined twins can be separated by surgery. Carmen and Lupita did not have that choice. The doctors told their parents that one of them could die if they were to try. The twins have been trying to live their lives the best way that they can. They are joined at the chest and the connection is all the way down to the pelvis. When they were born, doctors said they wouldn’t live long and they expected them only to last a few days. They have shown those doctors that they can make it and they are about to enter college.

The girls have a YouTube channel and have quite a following already. They are very open about being conjoined twins and they have a great sense of humor about it. One of the pictures they put up was captioned, “We need more conjoined twin puns for our captions. All I got is she’s always by my side.” The girls joke about the things that people ask them and how they just laugh at how silly some of the questions are. They said that one person asked them if they could actually see through another’s eyes. People are so dumb sometimes.
There are many bizarre theories that people bring up about them too. They have heard that God cursed their mom, God is punishing their mom, and they just laugh it off.
