CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For June 3: Jack Proposes To Phyllis

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers haven’t always been team Abbott, but this week is turning us more in favor of them as we’ve gotten to see moments that helped shape them. It sounds horrible to say, but it’s easy to lose focus of the others with the current storylines centered mostly on the Newmans, so this is a cool breath of fresh air.

While there’s no doubt we’ll see more Abbott centric episodes in the future, it’s good to wet our appetites with these episodes, and this throwback spoiler comes to us from September 10, 2001. The date may not carry as much historical significance as the following day, but it’s still important as it was the last day prior to the world-changing. It’s also significant in that our favorite shows maintained their course as much as possible, bringing that pre-change time along for us to hold onto.

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For June 3: Jack Proposes To Phyllis

Out of all the couples on Y&R, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) is one of the more interesting ones. While Phyllis has become known by many monikers to fans through the years, she’s always been a constant for us. We’ve enjoyed her kind, loving nature to those she cares about and treat her well, and her hateful, vengeful wrath on those she loves, don’t like and treats her badly.

It’s always a fun “what’s going to happen next” ride when she’s around. And, we say this knowing we could get into trouble, she’s the perfect double agent in Genoa City. Seriously. She moves between the Newmans and Abbotts and others so effortlessly there’s no wonder she’s so good at collecting information for her benefit. In this episode, Jack bends a knee and asks Phyllis to marry him in a move that is sure to send shockwaves through Genoa City. And as expected, she says yes. Despite everything, it’s always great to see characters find their way to each other in one way or another. Who knows, maybe one of these times a marriage will stick. Won’t that be boring?

Of course, anything involving Phyllis (or Disease, as CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers affectionately call her) is ever boring. It’s like boring is her opposite-safe word to flip the switch.
