British Royal Family News: Queen And Prince Philip Still Do This Sweet Tradition On Their Birthdays

British royal family news has revealed that there is a sweet tradition that the Queen and Prince Philip do every time that they celebrate their birthday. The couple have enjoyed a lengthy marriage, and Christopher Warwick has revealed that Philip is still a ‘no fuss’ kind of character. That is evident in the tradition that the two royals have to celebrate Prince Philip’s birthday.

According to the reports, the two of them enjoy a quiet lunch together. There are no other members of the family in attendance, with just the Queen and Philip being the only ones in attendance. However, the expert revealed that this hasn’t always been the case, and landmark birthdays are often celebrated in a grand manner.

British Royal Family News: Big Celebrations Planned For Next Year

Philip does celebrate his bigger birthdays with most extensive celebrations. That was evident in 2001 as the royal family celebrated his 80th birthday. On that occasion, the Queen made a speech, while Princess Margaret organised a performance from the Royal Ballet School. Those kinds of events are the type of things that royal fans will be looking forward to next year when Philip celebrates his 100th birthday.

Those 80th celebrations took place over three different events. There was one event held at the Royal Albert Hall, while there were also events at Guildhall and a final personal event, which was enjoyed by close friends and family. His 90th birthday was a simpler affair, with a reception of St George’s Chapel.

British Royal Family News: Plans For Philip’s 100th Birthday

Of course, this year’s celebrations will be somewhat muted as there will be no public events taking place due to the coronavirus pandemic. Philip will be celebrating the day with the Queen at Windsor Castle, as they have been spending their period of lockdown together there.

The couple were moved to Windsor Castle a little earlier than planned, with the Queen planning to spend the Easter period at the landmark. However, it is believed that the other members of the royal family will also celebrate Philip’s birthday as they will call up and have video calls.
