CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers finds that with COVID-19 halting the production of fans are getting some old throwback episodes to binge-watch during this time of social distancing. For long-time viewers, it’s brought back fond memories of characters who have left the show, or old storylines that we have long forgotten about. In recent months, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) has been battling cancer. Her fight has been a difficult one. However, with the flashbacks of old episodes, we are reminded that Sharon is no stranger to difficult times. Today, we are reminded about Sharon’s rape during her marriage to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow).
Back in 2003, a software developer by the name of Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby), came to Newman Enterprises on a job with Nick. Sharon Newman had met Cameron in a bar in Denver, where the two had ended up back in his hotel room. The evening resulted in a violent assault. At the time, Sharon was married to Nick. In an attempt to hide her attack and save her marriage, Sharon hid out until her injuries healed, and she stayed quiet about her assault. Cameron then blackmailed Sharon, demanding sex in return for his silence.

Sharon refused, where he attempted to rape her. Sharon retaliated by knocking Cameron over the head with a bottle and leaving his body behind a dumpster. Cameron’s body eventually ended up going missing, where Sharon learned that Larry Warton disposed of it. As the events unfolded, Sharon learned that the body that Larry Warton disposed of was actually Frank Barritt (Phil Dozois), Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes) biological father. Cameron, who was still alive, continued to taunt Sharon until he kidnapped Sharon on a plane. Nick ended up saving her, and the pair turned the villain into the police. If this dramatic story doesn’t prove that Sharon is a trooper, then I don’t know what will. Clearly, cancer is no match for the fierce Sharon Newman.
