British Royal Family News suggests that Princess Anne might have just taken a swipe at the younger generation of royals, and particularly towards Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle. In a new interview with Vanity Fair, the ‘royal rebel’ hinted that there are some people within the monarchy that are trying to reinvent the wheel, so to speak, when there really isn’t any need to. Here’s what you need to know.
During her interview, Princess Anne talked about how she spent the last decade putting in the groundwork with one of her patronages, Save The Children. She also said that she now has a better understanding that is needed to take part in any public debates on behalf of the organization. That’s when she apparently took a swipe at the ‘younger’ royals in the family.
British Royal Family News: Princess Anne Takes A Swipe At The Younger Royals – Is She Referring To Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?
Princess Anne put it this way, “I don’t think this younger generation probably understands what I was doing in the past and it’s often true, isn’t it? You don’t necessarily look at the previous generation and say, ‘Oh, you did that?’ Or, ‘You went there?’ Nowadays, they’re much more looking for, ‘Oh let’s do it a new way.’”
She added, “And I’m already at the stage, ‘Please do not reinvent that particular wheel. We’ve been there, done that. Some of these things don’t work. You may need to go back to basics.”
Princess Anne has long been known as one of the hardest working members of the royal family and it looks like she’s not planning on slowing down anytime soon. In fact, she said that retirement is not in the cards for her. “Most people would say we’re very lucky not to be in that situation because you wouldn’t want to just stop,” she said, adding, “It is, to a large extent, the choice of the organizations you’re involved with and whether they feel you’re still relevant.”
