NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Tyler Topits Opens Up About the Writer Life & work on DOOL!

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers indicate it takes a village to put together a Daytime production. While we talk about the actors who bring these characters to life, sometimes other important people are overlooked. In a recent Soap Opera Digest, the magazine put the spotlight on some of the people who help bring these shows to our screens daily. One of the first was with Tyler Topits. He’s a Writers’ Assistant, and had some cool things to say about the process. Here’s what you need to know.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Strike leads to opportunity

We’re sure everyone’s heard of the occasional strikes that impact our favorite shows. It can be a complicated process that leaves an effect over a long period of time. For Topits, it led to a new job. He spoke in depth about how the 2008 strike helped him to get a long-term position on the show. We just love stories like that, and he’s made the most of his opportunity.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Fanboy

Another interesting aspect of his story is, he grew up with the show. It’s a fairy-tale moment when one gets to be part of something they always enjoyed. For him, it apparently started with his mother being a loyal viewer. How many of us can say we grew up with relatives who watched these shows? It’s a nice connection, and a reminder that anything can happen in life. You just have to take the opportunities as they come and make the most of them.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Infamous

There’s a lot more to his Days story. ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers indicate that he was immortalized during a particular plot. He spoke something similar to what is going on with another soap. Caroline Brady (Peggy McCay) was dealing with a mystery illness. While based in fact, the writers hadn’t given it a real name. We see the logic in this move. It allows so much artistic freedom not to use a real disease. But at the same time, you’re also avoiding a lot of criticism if what you’re portraying doesn’t match up with what others experienced. We honestly don’t think that’s fair at times, because everyone’s body can react differently in similar situations. Something that might be completely debilitating to one person, might be a minor annoyance for another. However, they decided they needed a name. This is where things get interesting.

Apparently, one of the writers used a chance moment to name it after Topits. We love that. However, you’ll have to check out the article to see how he and his mother felt about the move. In addition to these stories, he also spoke a bit about his educational background, and what he loves most about the job.
