BBC ‘EastEnders’ Spoilers: Soap Star Signs Up To Help The National Health Service During COVID-19 Pandemic

BBC ‘EastEnders’ spoilers finds that it has been a tough couple of weeks for everybody around the world with the outbreak of the Coronavirus. The pandemic has now infected half a billion people around the world, and the hospitals across the globe are struggling to deal with the imminent threat to life during this time.

In the United Kingdom, the National Health Service (NHS) has opened its doors to volunteers to help out during this period, which means that ordinary people will be able to help those that are in vulnerable positions. One star that has been vocal about her desire to help out has been Louisa Lytton, who portrays Ruby Allen in EastEnders.

BBC ‘EastEnders’ Spoilers: Government Asks For Help During Pandemic

The government called for volunteers to put themselves forward this week to ensure that the NHS can maintain their workforce and offer help to everybody that needs it. Lytton revealed that she had signed up through her Instagram page, where she admitted that she was waiting on the car park of her nearest hospital waiting for the call.

The responsibilities that come for these volunteers’ ranges depending on what they would like to help out with. The vast majority will be helping the elderly with their shopping, and taking medicines to those that are classed as vulnerable and shouldn’t be leaving the house. Volunteers will also be required to call those that are self-isolating by themselves to ensure that they are doing okay during this tough time.

BBC ‘EastEnders’ Spoilers: Massive Numbers Sign Up As NHS Volunteers

Lytton was by no means the only person to sign up as a volunteer, as half a million people had signed up by the end of the first day. That number exceeded the target that was set by the government. They have now set the target of 750,000, but that is also likely to be breached by the end of the week.

During this tough time, it’s important to recognise the essential job that health workers around the world are doing. On Thursday evening at 8 pm, the whole of the United Kingdom came out of their homes to stand on their doorsteps to applaud the job that the NHS has done during the pandemic.
