TLC 90 Day Fiancé spoilers: Before the 90 Days finds that, as we all know, social media can be murder about appearances. Whenever you’re a person that looks in the slightest bit different, people are going to wonder, sometimes beyond what is polite human curiosity, what’s up with that. The same goes for Ed from Before the 90 days, it has been long speculated on social media about his appearance and if there is a reason why he looks the way he does and just what it is. Ed Brown has not disclosed anything publicly concerning his appearance but the truth of the matter is, there is indeed a reason why he looks that way. A reason that Ed didn’t sign up for.
That reason is called Klippel Feill Syndrome. It is congenital musculoskeletal condition where at least two of the vertebra in the neck are completely fused. This results in what is an extremely short neck, low hairline at the back of the head and neck and restricted mobility of the neck and upper spine. It can also cause chronic headaches and pain in the neck and spine. If Ed has any of these symptoms then he has not complained about them, or even addressed them in any way, and… that’s his right.

Social media can be really brutal when it comes to people’s appearances. A lot of people have been saying some rather unkind things when it comes to Ed’s appearance. It’s one thing to rag on someone’s fashion choices, or someone’s choice of fiance or questioning their motives for being on the show but to make fun of someone’s appearance when it’s not their choice to look that way, is just not classy. In this day and age we have scientific explanations for just about everything and we all know that sometimes things just happen.
As for why Ed is not sharing his diagnosis on TV, I can see his reasoning. He does not want to be known for that part of his story. He wants to be known for the part of his story that he views as positive, as a new beginning for him and little Ted, something that he he is in full control of. He’s not letting this diagnosis stand in his way of pursuing a life, obviously, and I think that’s something we can all applaud him for. That, and his great personality, you have to admit that so far his personality has been one of the best on the show. So let’s hear it for Big Ed, proving the old adage that beauty is only skin deep.
