NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: All About Judi Evans (Kayla Brady) & Thia Megia’s (Haley Chen) Exit On DOOL – Did the Show Do Them Right?

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers reveal the end is here for two characters. In the Thursday, January 23rd episode, we saw the final farewell to Kayla Brady (Judi Evans) and Haley Chen (Thia Megia). It was a sad moment, but also got us thinking about their contributions to the show. Here’s what you need to know.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The end

Adrienne Johnson Kiriakis’s farewell was a heartbreaking story. She seemed fine right after the accident, but suddenly collapsed while trying to help out. She never woke up again, leading to some great acting from Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis) and Wally Kurth (Justin Kiriakis). As Justin said his goodbye, they played an old scene where he and Adrienne first met. Seeing the difference in the actors drove home the long history this character has. We didn’t get to see her in action all that much, but it seems obvious from the way the characters talked about her, she was a huge part of Salem and one of the more decent characters on the show.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Judi Evans and Thia Megia exit Days, but did the show do them right?

We loved seeing the actress in both the role of Adrienne, and her double, Bonnie Lockheart. Through that character, Evans added attitude, and drama to the series. We especially loved her interactions with Sheila Watkins (Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins). We’re assuming that Watins’ upcoming return might be related to her old partner in scheming, but we’re not sure. So, what about the other departing actress/character?

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Iffy run

We’ve got nothing against Thia Megia. She’s a great actress, and we loved how she handled her final moments, where she had to deliver bad news to Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk). The obvious discomfort and the clear terror when Kristen lost it are two examples of the work she can do. We also enjoyed the chemistry she had with Casey Moss (Chandler Massey). These two felt like a real couple, and she’s got an excellent singing voice. Sadly, we’re not sure what her character ultimately contributed to the show.

It seemed like she was just a temporary plot device. Something to make a political point while adding to the growing tension between Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and his family before he ultimately got his memories back. They had a potentially interesting angle when she learned her “sister” was actually her mother, but it didn’t really go anywhere. Besides Melinda Trask (Laura Kai Chen) helping her stay in the country and a couple of mentions of awkward moments, we didn’t get to see these two fully explore the complicated dynamic between them, nor did we get to see them actually come to a resolution in it. All we got was a quick comment about Haley calling her “Mom” for the first time right before Haley’s death. The story needed better.
