BH 90210, Episode 4: The Table Read

BH90210 spoilers for Wednesday, August 28 indicate that Kyler (Karis Cameron) is learning a hard lesson about the business, while Jennie Garth dismisses Wyatt Jackson (Brendan Penny). There’s also pay drama and a really bad first table read, plus a shocking ending. If you missed it, let’s get to the BH90210 recap for the week.

BH90210 spoilers: Jennie’s problem

Word has spread that “Jennie Garth’s daughter” is going to be in the new 90210, which horrifies Kyler. She can’t believe that didn’t just use her name, because social media is already attacking her over the fact she’s only on the show because of mom. Jennie says that this is part of the business, and she’s going to have to deal with haters.

Later, they decide to have her formally audition to make things look good. Tori Spelling reminisces about auditing under a fake name back in the day as they talked about the nepotism thing that she’s been dealing with. We personally still don’t buy to this day there was a casting person in Hollywood that didn’t know she’s Aaron Spelling’s daughter, but what can ya do? Anyway… a second girl comes in to read and does much better than Kyler, which upsets Jennie. Tori says Kyler was promised “a” part, not a particular one. She points out that she’d auditioned for Kelly Taylor originally, but ended up as Donna Martin instead, which worked out better.

There’s more good news. After Kyler slashes Jennie’s tire to keep Wyatt around, Jennie admits this to him. He says he already knew. If he didn’t, he’d be a crap guard. They decide he’s going to another assignment and it looks like he may still come around to see her.

BH90210 spoilers: Table read fail

Now that everyone’s been brought on, a table read is at hand. This starts bad when Shannen Doherty doesn’t arrive to read for Brenda Walsh because her deal hasn’t been nailed down. A stand-in is used, and it only gets worse. Everyone hates the script, which Jennie says is depressing (only not as nicely). Kyler is upset she had one line as Donna’s daughter that got buried in Act 3. Jason Priestley is concerned about Brandon Walsh’s story, as well as how he’s going to work with the shots that have been set up. Gabrielle Carteris is upset that Andrea Zuckerman is having sex with a woman 4 pages in when this was supposed to be a gradual awakening thing. Brian Austin Green doesn’t understand why David Silver is a lawyer that is shirtless through most of it. They all decide to work on the script at the party being hosted that night, which annoys Anna (Natalie Sharp). She can’t believe actors are going to try writing the script, and she doesn’t work that way. Gabrielle insinuates she’s a child who knows nothing about work.

BH90210 spoilers: Shannen’s crisis

Things are dire when Shannen finally arrives, as the writer as essentially walked and tensions are flaring. Tori Spelling is even told that if they don’t get it together and get this settled by shooting tomorrow, they’ll all be fired and sued. Dang. Christine Elise the exec is hardcore. We love it.

All this tension is unbalancing Shannen’s chakras, so she rushes off to be alone and meditate. Gabrielle, Jennie, and Tori all join her and let out a lot of old stuff that was going on. Like Gabrielle feeling like the others were the cool kids and she didn’t belong, while Shannen was jealous of Tori’s mansion and Jennie getting no bad press back then. They eventually talk her into giving this a chance, and Shannen’s double salary (that she says will benefit orphans in hot zones) is saved, as well as the show. Well, almost…

BH90210 spoilers: Ian’s peace offering

They still need a script and the gang isn’t really getting anywhere. Ian has an idea and films the group incognito, then sends it to Anna. The clips show the real actors and their passion for their characters, which is apparently hugely inspiring to Anna. She sets to work, ultimately creating a script everyone loves that didn’t vary a lot from the old one. Gabrielle applauds Anna, and Shannen praises how she captured the essence of the show.

Anna and Ian get time to talk, and she wants to know why he helped her. They’ve had nothing but problems, with the latest being him assuming that she was dressing Steve Sanders like a homeless bum as some sort of revenge. That led to a fight about how well she knows the original series (she saw every episode twice and intended that costume to be one of Steve’s in a movie he’s doing) as well as his use of the term “Homeless bum”. It seems that after helping save her job and script, things have turned a corner. And she totally wants him, as Steve was apparently the only character with anything interesting and good in the first script.

BH90210 spoilers: Gabrielle’s timing

While the gang was still trying to put the script together, Gabrielle approached Christine about their earlier misunderstanding. Christine had meant that invitation last time to be a friendly one only, but as it came through the dating app Gabrielle downloaded, she though it was a first date invite. They talk a bit about it and eventually almost kiss, but Gabrielle pulls back and says she doesn’t feel like it’s right yet.

After the script is saved and everyone is happy, she approaches Christine to say that life is short and she’s done waiting for a “perfect” time. They end up making out in Christine’s office, which leads Jason to later joke about never imagining they’d end up dating the same woman.

BH90210 spoilers: Brian’s shock

Today, Brian finds out a shocking truth. Shay (La La Anthony) hired a PI to figure out who really leaked her new song. Zach (Ty Wood) said he’d seen her assistant near the home studio, but she doesn’t believe a long-time employee did this. The PI confirms she really did take a bribe, but that’s not all. He also uncovered footage of Zach at the convention in episode 1, plus some photos of the inside of his place, which has that creepy board. Brian goes to confront him and Zach admits that he is Brian’s son.

BH90210 spoilers: Tori’s insecurity

Tori has yet another loving moment with Nate (Ivan Sergei) today, where he is very bored and dismissive of their party/work session. He wants to go, but ends up running into Shay on the way out. He’s impressed by her, and tells Tori that she’s basically the only celeb he’s come across that’s a real person. Tori, understandably takes that as an insult and continues to suffer her unhappy marriage in silence. Well, unless you count a brief rant to Brian about the situation.

BH90210 spoilers: Shock ending

With a script all set, the cast shows up for their first day. Unfortunately, it’s off to a really bad start. The gang approaches the soundstage doors, which have a message in red that says, “Stop acting like I’m not here”. When the doors open, the entire set is on fire.
