‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Marlena Meets the Angel of Salvation and the Devil, Glimpses Into Salem’s Future Without Her – Sees Will Murder Leo In Cold Blood

‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers ask the question: Can we say “what are they smoking?” Today’s Days of Our Lives spoilers focus entirely on Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) and what life in Salem would be like without her. In case you missed this completely goofy, yet awesome episode, let’s catch you up on some of the highlights in today’s Days of Our Lives recap.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Marlena Meets the Angel of Salvation and the Devil, Glimpses Into Salem’s Future Without Her – Sees Will Murder Leo In Cold Blood

So, if you’re not caught up thus far, let us share a few quick points. Marlena was poisoned with what everyone is calling cookies pumped full of penicillin by Diana Cooper (Judith Chapman). We still say those treats resembled doughnuts more than cookies, but whatever. Anyway, after she’d been stabilized following John Black (Drake Hogestyn) discovering her unresponsive in her office, Marlena had just flatlined at the end of Friday, thanks to Diana adding more penicillin to Marlena’s IV. Here’s where things get insane…

Flashbacks galore

While John is wondering why on earth Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) stopped doing anything, Marlena is on a little bit of a spirit quest.

She’s met by “Tony” DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) in a sparse white room. He’s explained that she died and is trying to guide her through a certain door when another the real Tony shows up and argues with his double (Andre), begging Marlena not to do it. It seems the devil might have been trying to finally collect her soul after her possession years ago. We actually see clips of that arc play out (and we are totally impressed, by the way, that Marlena doesn’t seem to look much different) as the bad guy tries to convince her she is bound for Hell. Eventually, Marlena sends the bad one packing, and is also joined by Princess Gina (Kristian Alfonso).

It’s a wonderful day of her life

The rest of the episode focuses on what would happen to Marlena’s nearest and dearest without her. Through it all, we see various clips from years past with John, Claire Brady (Olivia Rose Keegan), and Will Horton (Chandler Massey). Let’s go down the list…

Wiill will eventually be abandoned by John and pushed over the edge by Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart), who ends up refusing to leave Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) after all. He comes on to Will, they argue, and Will eventually loses it and strangles Leo to death.

Claire and Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) aren’t faring much better. Without Marlena there to counsel Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson), he and Ciara stay broken up, and Ciara eventually gets back together with Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams) and has a baby. This pushes Claire over the edge, and she later gets arrested for selling Ciara’s baby on the black market. Belle Black (Martha Madison) refuses to help her out of this one, and Claire goes off on her mom for being a terrible mother. We’re actually impressed with Olivia’s acting when they’re not having her make the bug eyes and fawn over Tripp.

As for some of the other men in her life, without Marlena’s influence, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) and Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) go back to their old vices and have an absolutely cringe-worthy, yet hysterical drunken fight over Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey), who Princess Gina calls “deliciously slutty”. Seems that she’d tried for Eric after all, and was turned down so she made a play for Brady instead. Seriously. You have to see this fight, because there’s no way we can describe this and do it justice. By the way, Marlena’s ashes end up getting knocked over in the process, and Brady walks all over them on the way to John’s wedding—to Hattie Adams (also Deidre Hall). Belle is the only other guest at said wedding.

Back to life?

Now that Marlena’s seen such terrible things, she’s feeling a renewed strength and determination to fight her way back to her body. Will she succeed? Guess we’ll have to wait and see. For right now, we’re trying to decide if the writer(s) of this one deserve a raise, a drug test, or both.
