‘Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Doug Davidson’s Return As Paul Williams Hinted At By Melody Thomas Scott?

‘Young and the Restless’ spoilers impart that many people want to see Doug Davidson come back to reprise his role of Paul Williams on Y&R, including Melody Thomas Scott who portrays Newman matriarch Nikki Newman. Scott took to social media recently to express her wishes about a possible reunion with Doug, which makes us wonder: could she be hinting at something potentially in the works behind-the-scenes? Here’s what you need to know.

‘Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Doug Davidson Could Return To Y&R As Paul Williams

‘Young and the Restless’ spoilers relate that Y&R fans have been hoping for Doug Davidson to return as Paul Williams on the hit CBS soap since he was let go last year. Many fans have shown concern that the “old guard” are being swept away to make room for the “new guard” of Y&R stars, but this out with the old in with the new mentality has struck an angry with many a fan.

Other old timers, like Eileen Davidson (Ashley Newman) have also exited the show in recent times amidst growing concern about the show’s lack of identity from the largest fanbase of all American soaps. Many fans would like to see some of the actors and characters they watched over the years return to Genoa City, and this also goes for Melody Thomas Scott who posted this on her Twitter profile regarding Doug Davidson’s return:

.I’ll never stop dreaming… Let’s make this happen! Love you and miss you, my first and forever-classic Genoa City partner in crime! Love you, my Dougie! xo

Hopefully, Scott’s tweet means there is sme hope for those who wish to see Nikki reunite with her original “partner in crime”. We know that Mal Young, Y&R’s former head writer, was recently let go of his functions and Josh Griffith has taken over the reins. Perhaps Young’s exit came as a result of growing unsettlement amidst fans of the hit CBS show, and lower ratings year-by-year. We also know that Eric Braeden was more than happy to bid Young “bye bye” in a recent Facebook live session after the former head writer tried to diminish the role of Victor Newman to the point of insignificance.

We don’t have concrete information at this time since neither CBS nor official heads at The Young and the Restless have commented, but it’s clear that a revamp in story lines was long overdue, and this could have good implications for some of the show’s favourite characters.
