Days of Our Lives Recap Friday, February 22: Shocking Cliffhanger – Ben’s Shaken

Days of Our Lives Recap Friday, February 22:

Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) has a moral dilemma to deal with, Jordan Ridgeway (Chrishell Hartley) makes a confession, and there is a major shocker today regarding Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal). If you missed all the Days of Our Lives spoilers, get ready to catch up on the highlights in today’s Days of Our Lives recap.

What will he do?

Jack is out for a little post-wedding time with JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) when he brings up the topic that they didn’t get to finish earlier: Hayley Chen (Thia Megia). He’s still insistent that it’s a bad idea to keep Hayley around. JJ disagrees and says that Jack isn’t the father he grew up with if he doesn’t support her. Jack points out that this is a hot-button issue JJ’s gotten involved in, and he’s worried about JJ getting taken advantage of. He throws Jack staying with Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva) in his face before Jack gets a text from the woman in question herself. He excuses himself to see what’s so important.

Eve’s just gotten done eavesdropping (pun intended) and learned that Hayley is the aspiring mayor’s illegal immigrant sister. She just can’t wait to use this information to Jack’s (and let’s face it, her) advantage. Jack’s thinking no. He values the trust that JJ has put in him and doesn’t want to risk that. Eve suggests there’s a way they can still work this.

Speaking of trust… Hayley still has total faith in JJ, not knowing that he has spilled all. Back at the apartment, they are getting closer than ever, and we’re feeling bad for Hayley (and JJ). All hell is going to break loose if the truth comes out. Innocent or not, there is no way that she’ll believe it wasn’t JJ’s fault. Although, we think the one with the most blame is Melinda Trask (Laura Kai Chen). Whether either of the Deveraux men spilled the beans or not, Melinda still acted very suspicious in public, and we’re sure Eve would’ve still followed them and put the pieces together eventually.

Confessions of a martyr.

Jordan is in custody now, and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) is handling the interrogation. She’s pulling her normal “we have to save people from Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson)” routine, but Rafe isn’t buying it. He says that she doesn’t sound at all like the same person who once helped him. He wants to know about the recent accident that changed things.

Seems she spent a lot of time in the hospital as a result but admits that she never felt the same after. It made her realize something about the previous accident that claimed her mother’s life. Rafe wants to know what, and she goes off on a story about her father’s evil and how having Ben didn’t make things better. The point of the story?

Things were bad and the idea of mom having a third kid to suffer at their father’s hands was too much. Jordan intentionally steered the car into the tree, killing her pregnant mother. The intent was to die, too, but she obviously failed and blocked the incident until her more recent trauma. Rafe is shocked and counters her “helped them” logic by saying she caused her mother’s and unborn sibling’s deaths. She loses it so hard, she makes Ben look like the only somewhat rational one in their whole family.

Meanwhile, Ben is dealing with problems of his own. Despite Ciara’s assurances that he was just saving her life by trying to kill Jordan, Ben’s still shaken. He’s scared the old him is still hiding inside and ready to come out. He seems to think putting just a little distance between them right now is the right call.

Back at the station, Ted Laurent (Gilles Marini) is the new acting DA and wants to try this case against Jordan, including trying her for the car accident that killed her pregnant mother. He’s forced to agree to a plea deal that will send Jordan to Bayview for a nice, long stay.

Ben’s problems, meanwhile, only get worse when he goes to the police station himself. After hearing Ted cursing the day the Westons came to town, he sees Jordan, who’s getting brought to Bayview. He apologizes for what he’d nearly done to her, and she accepts—it’s who he is and always will be. Ouch. And this show has turned into how to make a healthy guy relapse into madness 101.

Shocking cliffhanger

After a little jealousy from Claire Brady (Olivia Rose Keegan) at knowing Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams) was chatting up Hayley a bit, the pair head to the hospital, where Claire begs forgiveness (again) for meddling in Ciara’s relationship with Tripp (again) and promises not to interfere anymore. Excuse us if we don’t make any bets on that.

Tripp proves how badly Jordan’s scheme may backfire by showing sympathy for Ben and the situation he’s currently in. In fact, he’s now convinced that Jordan had to be the one that set the fire Ciara almost died in after her motorcycle crash. We then get a flashback that shows us the culprit was actually Claire. Yikes. We thought the girl was a little crazy, but not the kill-my-cousin type of crazy. This is likely to get interesting….
