I know one of the many stages of grief is denial, but this is getting rather ridiculous. Televangelist Kenneth Copeland has made light of the fact that Joe Biden is, in fact, President Elect of the United States and will indeed be inauguarated on Jan. 21st, 2021.
During a sermon he said “The media declared Biden president!” and then proceeded to lead the congregation in raucuous laughter over the numbers that clearly state the will of the people.
He can laugh all he wants, but the numbers are there.
What is amazing and really disappointing about this entire display from him is that he claims to be a man of God. While certainly that does not prevent one from having personal, political leanings, it should prevent one from making those political leanings known in the pulpit.
A sermon should not be about mocking a political candidate – on either side – a sermon should be about God’s word, and so far until Jesus calls a press conference, He’s been pretty silent about the election so far. Also, if we’re talking about historically correct Jesus, then He would be an Israeli and unable to vote in United States elections anyway.
So why is this guy laughing again?
Someone please educate me on where, in the Bible, that we’re encouraged to laugh at election results? Because I’m not familiar with that verse. Someone please tell me where Jesus encouraged one political party over the other, because that part seemed to have left that part out of my bible.
Did anyone see Jesus himself at the polls or did he vote absentee this year? Which precinct was He registered at? Was it in a blue state or a red state because we definitively have to know which way the son of God voted!
Or perhaps, Mr Copeland and some other people should adopt the mentality that everything happens for a reason, which is a really popular mentality for Christians, both conservative and liberal. 2016 and the preceeding four years happened for a reason, and that seemed to be to force US society to look in the mirror and see exactly what we had become.
Maybe now its time to stop looking in the mirror, and start fixing that broken reflection, and the only way to do that is through change. However, we have to be willing to accept it. For everything there is a season. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.
