CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers finds that star Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) has opened up about her troubling past and surviving her childhood abuse from her late grandmother. In an interview with People Magazine, the blonde beauty is sharing new details from her upcoming book, Always Young & Restless: My Life On And Off America’s #1 Daytime Drama. Here’s what she has to say.
‘The Young and the Restless’ actress says one of the reasons why she’s decided to write a book about her life story is because she wants fans to get to know the real her, and not just the character that she plays on daytime television.

Melody explains, “I’m sure many people will be shocked to learn that I have that kind of background. They’ve seen me in their living room every day for 41 years, they believe I’m my character Nikki Newman and my life is perfect. But I think it will make it even more impactful for them to realize this kind of stuff can happen to anybody.”
In her book, Melody recalls some of the more difficult memories of her childhood, including her years of abuse by her late grandmother and being sexually assaulted by several men. “Even now, I think I’m healed, I think I’m over it, but it never really leaves you,” she says.
In her interview, Melody also says that she’s always been someone who is strong and a fighter and that she continues to work through her trauma. “There is no easy fix, but I’m hoping my story opens the door for people,” she says.
